Picture in Picture in iMovie – A How To

It’s been a while since I gave any instructions on anything so I thought I would start with something that I love. iMovie! A lot of us have migrated to the MAC platform (or MAC with windows running on Parallels), and that being the case, it’s opened the door for a lot of cool programs such as iMovie.

The nice thing about the MAC platform is that you practically can start using any of the software and not need any instructions at all. Well, with iMovie that’s true as well, however there are some cool functions that can assist you and make you look like a total pro. Have you heard of Picture in Picture? Totally rocks!

To use it you’ll need to go into the preferences in iMovie and turn on “Show Advanced Tools.”

See Example here:

Now you take the clip from the bottom row and drag it on top of where you want to put it and once you let go of your mouse, you’ll get a ton of options. (See below)

Choose Picture in Picture and then done – and your done! There are some other options that will make it refined, but you get the idea! Cool right!

Is Your Marketing Plan…Normal?

Tonight my 4 year old was screaming at the top of her lungs to her sister “I’m not normal!’ As usual I went to scream back and ask why are you screaming in my house…Okay, maybe there is another story there in the screaming…but the point is this. Her next response. “Mommy, I’m trying to tell sissy that I’m not normal because every one of my cut outs are different on purpose.” I asked her what she meant and she further explained, “Mommy, I make cut out phones and each one is different. Some have a long handle and some have buttons to push and some have dots that I drew on. But they are all different because I don’t want to be normal. I want to be different and make sure that each phone stands out.”

I just stared at her for a second. Then I thought for another second..”That’s my baby,” haha! But on a serious note, is your marketing plan too “normal?”  And what is your definition of “normal?” Interesting right? We all know that in today’s market, we have to be innovative, we have to stand out. So how do you do it? You’ve got to remember how Continue reading

You’ve got mail, email that is..and there’s a video in it!

Think about this, you have a business and it needs to be marketed to a target audience. It’s quite difficult to explain the benefits and features of your product without sending a 25 page brochure in the mail or getting the prospect to have a 30 minute meeting with you. These things are hard to do in today’s world of limited time. However, everyone has an email account and the more data you can get to a person in a short time frame the better right? The joy of web analytics

The joys of website analytics

How do you measure your progress on your website? Do you even measure it at all? When I began my website career I thought wow, I am a genius at this. I have a great design, people are constantly telling me how beautiful it is, and I am positive customers are visiting the site…Or are they?

If you aren’t Continue reading

Sending DM’s to multiple Twitter users…YES YOU CAN!

Amit Agarwal, tech columnist and professional blogger (and quite possibly a genius for figuring my personal social media frustration out), has just posted one of the best kept secrets (in my opinion) regarding Twitter DM’s (Direct Messaging) and how to send them to multiple folks at one time. This is HUGE for those of us managing several Twitter accounts for business when we’re trying to reach a specific demographic.

Now, I know I have spoken about a lot of different Twitter strategies in previous posts, but this one might be at the top of the list!

A link to his insightful post is below:

How to get people to your website…and keep them there!

When it comes to a website, sometimes the hardes part is not how to get them there, but how to keep them on your site longer than 2 minutes. Well, for me anyway. So, I thought I would share some techniques that have worked for me.

First things first
Your content should be the first thing you consider during a redesign. You need to make sure that you CALL THINGS WHAT THEY ARE!! Don’t use words like “surrogated-liner impact sealer” when its really just a door knob. If a search engine is trying to help a potential customer of yours find a door knob…do you think they will know your Continue reading

Get your blog posts and links retweeted faster on Twitter

When I post my blog articles on Twitter I usually get about 10-50 reads depending on the time of day I send it and the leading text I use in the tweet. That can be half the battle. However, if you want to see major increases in your blog reads and pick up new followers of your blog, I have found a great tool that I would like to share with everyone. Some might say I am crazy for sharing this information, but lets be real, if you are not Mashable , then you can probably use all the help you can get!

So, what’s my big secret? Well, for some of you this may be old news, but to a good portion of you, it may be new news. First off, you need to have a Continue reading

New ways to reach your customers with an old technique

Let me start this conversation like this…”Do you want your company to be all over the internet with bad press or good press?”  Testimonials are one of the most unique and fastest way to sell and brand your product.  They also happen to be an older method of marketing that is often forgotten. But ask yourself this one question, Continue reading

What are you doing with your Twitter lists?

I have had a lot of people ask me how I got listed so many times. At the time of this post, I had 88 listings on Twitter, however I believe that the reason I have been listed that much is because people have decided I fall into certain groups. Mostly, I have been listed as a social networking or marketing expert. I say thank you to everyone who thinks this, but the reason for todays post is “What are you doing with this information?”

Although it may seem like I have been listed a lot, really, I have not. There are some in the industry that have been listed thousands of times like Richard MacManus on Twitter, who has been listed over 4000 times.

So what I have decided a list is not good for is just following. I don’t necessarily think Continue reading

I have seen several methods used on Twitter and have tried most of them. There is the good old “Hit them hard and hit them fast” method.  This method consists of sending 4 – 5  different Continue reading
